There are people who are depressed and people who are clinically depressed. Some days I get depressed but I am able to shake it off for others it might not be so easy and will suffer with depression for a very long time. It is really unfortunate that our emotions take a turn for the worse and can sometimes result in fatal decisions that cannot be reversed. When I get down I always ask myself ”is my life really that bad?”. Like seriously, sometimes I can feel like the whole world is against me but in reality it really isn’t as bad as it seems. There are so many people out there that are living on the streets, suffering from abuse, addiction, traumatized by childhood experiences and living in poverty ridden conditions. I always try and be thankful for all the good things I have like:
- Family
- Friends
- Health
- Shelter
- Food
- Support Systems
- A Career
Some people are not as fortunate as we are but make the most of their lives. People who have health problems can still be optimistic and happy in their lives, when you go to developing countries you will still see children who have smiles on their faces even though they may not live in nice homes, have enough food to eat, or fancy toys to play with. They see death around them daily, they see sickness, they work hard but yet they are grateful. Sometimes we need to look beyond what we are depressed about and realize that maybe life isn’t so bad. We have the resources in place to help us survive and to help us get better. In developed countries you will always have access to food, shelter and clothing even when you cannot afford it on your own. There are plenty of opportunities for us to thrive and survive and so much to be grateful for.
I know depression can be a very serious medical problem and for some they might not have the natural means to cope. There are counselling services and natural ways of overcoming depression so that you don’t have to ingest dangerous prescription drugs. I have known people who have actually felt worse when the were prescribed depression medication, that does not make sense to me. Sometimes it is just a matter of reprogramming your thinking and changing your diet. You might be lacking important vitamins that keep your system in balance, or eating the wrong foods or exposed to too much negativity that is subconsciously affecting you.
There are natural ways to alter your mood for a more positive way of thinking. Whether you are clinically depressed or just want to be happier in life you should try to beat depression with your mind. Learn how to be in control of your thoughts and moods. Believe me tomorrow is always a better day. It might not feel like that today but if you give life a chance you will see that there is always a presence watching over you keeping you safe and well, giving you hope and opportunity. If you are able to read this message today then it means you haven’t given up yet. Always know that there is another door to open and there just might be something good on the other side.
